A few weeks back, we took a short trip to Tennessee. Robert dropped me off in Franklin while I attended a conference while he traveled on to the New Market area to hang out with HAM radio friends. This show sums up our little adventure.

 Episode Highlights:

  • A week or so before the trip, we moved the roof-top tent from the Subaru to the Jeep. Our confidence level with the Subaru had been shaken in taking such a long trip, so we opted to take the Jeep instead.
  • Robert designed and built an organization system in the back of the Jeep to make things easily accessible.
  • The day before we were to leave, the Jeep sprung a leak! The transfer case was leaking transmission fluid. A driveway repair was needed.
  • We headed off to TN from Springfield, MO with faith the Jeep wouldn’t give us any problems.
  • Our first night was spent at Chickasaw State Park.
  • Made it to Franklin. I was staying there for four days for a conference while Robert went to New Market to spend HAM Radio Summer Field Day with his good friend.
  • Oh no! When Robert was returning to Franklin from New Market, the alternator went out on the Jeep. Parking lot repair put him behind schedule two hours.
  • He made it back to Franklin safe and sound. We headed slowly back to MO.
  • We took our time and traveled on the Natchez Trace Parkway from just outside of Franklin, TN to Tupelo, MS.
  • After getting off the Natchez Trace Parkway, two unplanned stops that we were pleasantly surprised by were Louisiana Purchase State Park and Peel Ferry, both in Arkansas.

Our Jeep got us there and got us back home. Even with the repairs that had to be done along the way, for some reason we had more confidence with the Jeep than we had with the Subaru. We were never too stressed or worried about getting to our destination.
