We woke early today to discover that three other campers had quietly arrived sometime in the night. By 6:30 AM, Gayla and I were already up and moving. The morning started off with a bit of cloud cover, but by 9 AM the sun was out in full force.

While Gayla jumped into client work and video calls, I gave Clifford a once-over to get ready for today’s departure. I also took the opportunity to shoot some video and photos of the area until Gayla wrapped up her call.

Around 10 AM, a pair of Airstreams rolled in—more neighbors for the morning. We had our camp packed up and were on the road by 11:00 AM, headed toward Rawlins, Wyoming for a resupply stop and possibly some laundry.

As soon as we parked, a guy approached us asking if he could photograph Clifford’s front axle. He’s planning a 4×4 conversion for his high-top Ford van and wanted to see our setup. His name was Todd—he and his wife are from western Washington, making their way to Lone Jack, Missouri for a wedding. Always fun running into fellow road warriors.

After restocking, Gayla needed some food, so we grabbed a snack and then tackled laundry duty at one of the most uniquely Wyoming places you can imagine: a saloon, pool hall, and laundromat all rolled into one. Only in Wyoming.

Once the laundry was folded and packed, we hit the road again with our sights set on Lander, Wyoming—a spot we hadn’t visited in five years. We had saved the GPS coordinates from a past trip and decided it was time to return.

The drive was wildly windy the entire way, but it paid off. We arrived at Fiddlers Lake Campground around 7:15 PM—a later arrival than usual for us, but absolutely worth it. The lake, the forest, the fresh air—it’s a beautiful place to settle into for a couple days.

Gayla has a full day tomorrow packed with video calls and client check-ins, so we’re staying here at least two nights. We even paid for this site—our first paid campsite of the trip!
