We fell asleep last night to the sound and sight of fireworks just outside the back door of Clifford. There’s something special about watching a celebration of light while nestled in your own little home on wheels. A perfect way to end the Fourth.
We slept in late—about 8:30 AM—which felt just right for a lazy Saturday morning. Gayla made some coffee and we kicked off the day with a sweet little treat: peanut butter chocolate with our morning brew.
The morning moved slowly. Gayla did some computer work while we listened to the sounds of the nearby gun range coming alive for the weekend.
When hunger called, we headed out for some bacon cheeseburgers that really hit the spot. And of course, no proper camp meal is complete without dessert—we topped it off with another round of Dutch oven peach cobbler. Just as tasty as ever.
Back at Clifford, the dogs had been lounging in the cool air, snoozing in true luxury with the AC running. They were clearly living their best lives.
Gayla knocked out a bit more computer work in the afternoon while I did some route planning for tomorrow and the week ahead. We already have next Thursday through Sunday locked in, so I’ve been trying to figure out what we want to see before then.
The heat today was no joke, but we managed it just fine. We ran the air conditioner on battery power for about five hours without a hitch. The only real issue? It was still hot outside. Once the shade finally rolled around, we moved outside to get some fresh air and do a little more work while the dogs lounged in the breeze.
All in all, it was a wonderfully slow, relaxed day—sometimes those are exactly what you need.
