Gayla was up way earlier than I was this morning. I think all that fresh air and the walk around the lake yesterday knocked me out cold—I slept great.
Last night we were the only ones in the campground. It felt like our own private retreat. But we had some company roll in early this morning—another camper showed up. Still, it’s been quiet and peaceful.
This morning, Gayla had a few client check-in calls. Normally, Friday is our travel day, but we shifted our schedule around a bit to better fit her workload and give ourselves a break.
While she handled business, I dove into the digital chaos of our media files. Between three cameras and a mix of videos and photos, organizing everything on the computer took some serious time and patience. But it felt good to get things sorted and backed up.
We moved operations outside for a few hours, soaking up some sun and fresh air. The wind started to pick up just before Gayla’s video call—gusts were forecasted up to 40–45 mph—so she retreated back inside Clifford for a better audio setup.
Once she wrapped up her call, we were both officially hangry. I had already started setting up my HF station while she was finishing up, so once I had the gear ready, I grilled up some mango hatch chili beef brats and paired them with a fresh avocado. Hit the spot!
I set a goal of making at least 10 contacts on HF today, but I was in the zone and ended up with 33 total contacts, including 26 unique ones. A few duplicates snuck in, but I’ll take it! Not too shabby for running just 5 watts of RF power.
Later in the afternoon, we leashed up the dogs and took a walk around the campground. They’ve been doing great—sleeping soundly after each walk, which is always a win.
By late afternoon, the campground filled up. Out of the 20 sites here, only three were left. Not surprising, considering it’s the start of the weekend and the weather has been perfect. It didn’t get above 75°F here today, while down in Lander they were looking at a toasty 90°F. Feeling pretty lucky up here.
We ended the day outside, enjoying the cool breeze. Gayla got some time in with her book while I caught up with my brother over text.
