We left Douglas State Fishing Lake by about 8:45 AM. There was a beautiful sunrise to enjoy as we were packing up. We did have a restless night’s sleep. Maybe it was because it was our first night sleeping in our newly renovated rig. Maybe it was the blaring blue lights from the USB chargers that were newly installed. Just in case it was the blue lights, we’ll be sure to cover those somehow.

Our destination today was set to be Jewell State Fishing Lake. We had some meetings that we couldn’t miss for work. Our plan was to travel, then stop close to meeting times.

At around 9:30 AM, we stopped in Perry, Kansas for fuel. Then at about 9:50 AM, we pulled into Dillon’s parking lot on the outskirts of Topeka to let the dogs out and concentrate on business meetings. We left Dillons at 11:10 AM to get some more miles under our belt.

By 1 PM, we were hungry, so we stopped at Clay Center at a park to have a bite to eat and let the doggies have a walking break. We were only there about thirty minutes before we were on the road again.

We stopped at Dollar General in Beloit, Kansas at 2:30 PM to get water, chips, dip, mayo, and lunch meat. By 3:30 PM we arrived at Jewell Lake. We drove the loop around the lake and picked out the camp spot with the best internet.

We cooked up hamburger and rice in our newly purchased copper cookware from Ordelheide Copperware. It was our own version of taco Tuesday…but on a Wednesday.

Found campsite number 2 at Jewell State Fishing Lake in north central Kansas. Down several miles of dirt road. Today was 210.3 miles of no interstate. Got 11.9 mpg fully loaded with the 454 Big Block.
