IMG_0001I love photography, but I certainly don’t consider myself a photographer, I leave that distinction up to Robert. But photography is certainly important to me because it is an outlet that helps me in other parts of my life.

I am continually impressed with Robert’s dedication in learning and trying out new techniques. Last year, he decided to commit to a 365 project. His project entailed taking a photo of the same subject every single day of the year and posting it to Instagram. When January 1st rolled around last year, he still hadn’t committed to a subject, so he took a shot of our Jeep. The commitment was set…every day in 2014 he took a picture of our Jeep and posted it to Instagram (sometimes sharing on Facebook).

Needless to say, some of his followers were glad to see 2015 come so they won’t see our Jeep so often. I know that perhaps taking a picture of our Jeep isn’t a big deal to some, but his consistency and dedication to accomplish that goal really inspires me.

This year his new 365 project is to take at least one film photo a day. Why film? He is fascinated by the artwork of film photography. When you go “old-school,” you improve your skills with the new technology. Film photography is becoming a lost art.Screenshot_2014-12-27-19-49-05

A part of this project is to develop our own film. I hadn’t done that since high school journalism class and Robert had never done it. We made sure to get all the supplies we needed by Christmas and before the New Year rang in, we had developed our first roll.

I love to develop the film! We have a blast doing it together. I’m so glad that we are much more comfortable doing it because the he likes to use the medium format cameras that take 120 film. It is much more economical to develop 120 (even 35mm) ourselves than sending them off.

He has a ton of 35mm film to click through this year that he collected over the past year. He’s on the lookout for Internet deals on 120 film.

My role in this project is his assistant, which is AWESOME! This is my breather and what takes me away from my computer so that I can renew and recharge for my business. Robert really brings out my creative side and I’m grateful. I can’t wait to see where our little trips will take us this year.
