This is our first winter in cold weather in our RV and we keep doing little things here and there to improve our insulation and winterizing.  For the past month, we split our time at two different Colorado State Parks.  Each one would not allow continuous hook up to the city water.  One asked that you simply use the spigot to fill up your tanks, while the other had their spigots turned off entirely and you had to drive to the dump station to fill up you tanks.

Now we are in Golden at an RV park that has heat tape around their spigots, so we wanted to insulate our water line so we can be hooked up to city water full-time and not worry about filling our tank.  We had already placed heat tape on the water lines underneath the coach wrapped with pipe insulation before we even made our way to Colorado (See Dec. 17, 2011 blog post).   For this little project, I used a 20 foot RV/marine hose, 18 foot of heat tape, and 25 feet of pipe wrap insulation.

Supplies: Heat Tape, Hose, Pipe Wrap Insulation

I wrapped the heat tape around the hose.  Then I wrapped the pipe insulation around the heat tape and hose.  I used foil tape to keep everything together.  There are other ways to keep water lines from freezing, but so far this has worked for us.  Who knows, with all that foil, perhaps we get better tv reception.
