We spent the week before Labor Day in Mt. Pleasant, IA at the Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.  We arrived the Sunday before the festivities were to even begin.  We thought surely the campground would be fairly empty, but were we wrong!  Acres and acres of places to camp and when we arrived it already looked full.  As the week progressed, the campers kept pulling in.  It was amazing to see how many campers could actually fit on the grounds.  There weren’t any full hookups.  We were pretty happy with our reserved 30 amp site and just hoped our air conditioner could keep up with the sweltering 100 degree heat.

The Reunion officially kicked off with a tractor parade through town on Wednesday evening.  The rest of the weekend we spend walking, walking, and walking some more.  We tried to see every single thing, but we aren’t really sure that we accomplished that goal.

Top 10 favorite things of the week…

1) The tractors (especially the little Bantam)

2) Gas Engines

3) Stationary Steam Engines

4) The old fashioned printing press

5) The world’s longest cavalcade of power parade…ever! (Robert was busy taking pictures of every single tractor…I took the opportunity to doze off.)

6) Being able to go back to our RV and take a nap

7) The trolley rides (sure beat walking back to the RV, and you got somewhat of a breeze as long as we were moving)

8) Having a chuckle because the entertainment’s promo pictures didn’t look anything like the real thing, great show, but the promo pics were from decades ago

9) Having the best salad bar ever at Hyvee (On one hand the cold salad and fruit tasted so good, on the other hand, Hyvee’s air conditioning was working VERY well.)

10) Best of all…SPARKS!  (had to see that all three nights)

When all is said and done, I think we got our fill of tractors for awhile.  We were certainly glad we spent the entire week there to take our time seeing everything we wanted.
