IMG_0495Sunday morning was a little soggy. That didn’t deter us though. We folded up the tent and left our campsite by 7:15 a.m. We stopped at the entrance so that we could take some photos, check the tires and make a smoothie. We were just under a quarter tank of gas, so we headed to Hohenwald, TN to fill up with fuel. We were pleased with the 26 MPG considering all the weight we are carrying.

We needed to find a place to stay with good internet for two nights so we could get some work done. We headed east on Hwy 20 toward Summertown, TN. Then we went south on Hwy 43 to Lawrenceburg.

We arrived at David Crockett State Park around 9:15 a.m. We had good, strong internet so we went into the office to see what campsites were available. The attendant gave us a list and we drove around to pick our site. We love that park. It has such beautiful grounds. We visited the park about three years ago when we were staying in Alabama. The more we drove around, the more we decided that we needed to stay at a place we’ve never been before. Needless to say, we pressed on and went further down the road.

He headed east on Hwy 64 to Fayetteville, then Hwy 50 to Lynchburg. We picked out our next destination of Tims Ford State Park. We arrived by 1:00 p.m. and drove around to take a look at the park. Beautiful camping area!

We were given the open camp spots so we could take our pick. We drove around to see where we’d have the best internet signal. My heart sank when even though my Wi-Fi indicated I had signal (not strong, but at least a reasonable signal), nothing was coming up on my computer.

By this time both Robert and I were tired and hungry. We were ready to stop moving and just pitch the tent. We had to get some things done though and we were starting to get grumpy. We made the decision to go ahead and pick a campsite and go into town to work and grab something to eat.

When we hit town, I was still in a panic because my Wi-Fi wasn’t working as planned. I just got the new device last Thursday and I’m not completely familiar with it yet. As Robert was driving around Winchester, TN looking for a place to eat, I decided to call Verizon.

Wow, what a nice lady at Verizon. Turns out she was from Lynchburg, TN and was pretty familiar with the area. She even messaged a co-worker who lives in Winchester, TN to get food recommendations for us as we drove aimlessly. She pleasantly walked me through my dilemma. She asked me to reboot both my computer and Wi-Fi device to begin with. (I should have known to do that before I even called, but under hungry and stressed out conditions, I forgot.) I really wanted to toss my computer out because it didn’t want to reboot as quickly as I would have liked. Oh well, when all was said and done, the reboot made everything better. My Verizon rep was wonderfully cheerful through the whole thing.

We stopped at Western Sirloin to have a steak dinner. It just so happened they had free internet. I worked and got the absolute necessities done before we went back to the campground.

We were able to set up camp at about 5:30 p.m. My stress level was much better knowing that I got what I had to do done and my tummy was full. We had the campsite for one evening and then we’d move on to find a place tomorrow that would have better connection.
